NEP developed a dedicated Special Projects division in 1991 particularly to specialize in the operational and engineering management of large scale international events. The unique nature of a facility company that also provides broadcast event management services was precedent setting and has continued with great success over the years. NEP’s reputation and achievement in this specialized field is recognized by broadcasters throughout the world.
NEP along with Broadcast Services International, Inc. have combined resources and expertise to form an “International Events Group” (IEG) in order to provide broadcasters with the broadest possible base of large scale event production expertise.
The expertise of the core group of event specialists lends itself to the execution of detailed early planning of the technical design as well as the coordination of the execution of the broadcast during the actual event. Coordinating areas such as venue or Broadcast Center engineering design, venue operational needs and systems, equipment facilities and technical manpower are unique services provide by NEP.
Broadcast Services International (BSI) specializes in offering full service technical production, consulting and engineering services for broadcast in both television and radio worldwide. This includes project planning and management, contracting TV mobiles and facilities, equipment rental, design and build of broadcast operations, commentary support, signal delivery via fiber optic or satellite, on-site supervision and crewing.
BSI has been in business for over 20 years servicing the North American broadcast industry and the International community including Europe, Japan and Australia.
This experience extends from working as Rights Holder and Host Broadcaster at World Cups, World Championships and 14 Olympics.
NEP and its key individuals have had extensive experience in all aspects of large scale live international event television coverage including, Pan Am Games ’87, Goodwill Games ’90 & ’00, America’s Cup ’92 & ’95, World Cup ’94, Women’s World Cup ’99 and the Olympic Games of ’84, ’88, ’92, ’96, ’00, ’02, ’04, and ’06.
NEP began its major event involvement by serving as Host Broadcaster with the Indianapolis Organizing Committee, and providing the CBS unilateral coverage for the 1987 Pan Am Games in Indianapolis. Together with Trans World International, NEP was the Host Broadcaster for the last two American’s Cups Yacht Races held in San Diego in 1992 and 1995.
NEP is also an experienced systems company, having designed, built and maintained the Broadcast Center facilities for England’s ITV and Mexico’s TV Azteca for World Cup Soccer in 1994. NEP has engineered, managed and provided technical services for the operation of all the World Cup Soccer venues around the U.S.
In 1994, NEP joined the Trans World International to create the yearly production of the New York City Marathon. Since that time, NEP has been intricately involved in the planning of the operational and technical aspects of the yearly spectacle of 30,000 people running 26 miles through five boroughs of New York City.
During the Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta in 1996, NEP provided Broadcast Center facilities for France (Canal+), New Zealand (TVNZ), South Africa (SABC), and Mexico (TV Azteca). Olympic involvement by NEP personnel and facilities utilization has continued without interruption since the Los Angeles Game since 1984.
NEP’s long-term relationship with NBC has evolved into a long term consulting agreement with their Olympic Engineering effort. This relationship has been in place since the 1988 Seoul Games. NEP plans venue coverage details from mobile units and large screens to coordination of overall engineering efforts. NEP has succeeded in providing the best in planning, technical management, design and operational expertise for networks to broadcast the largest sports events the world has ever seen.
