NEP Broadcasting Premieres a New Solution for the Biggest Television Shows in the Country

NEP Broadcasting, the premiere provider of outsourced teleproduction services, announces the release of ESU, a new Engineering Support Unit that is a one-of-a-kind solution for large shows with multiple signal distribution needs. This truck is teeing off at the Masters this week for CBS Sports providing its comprehensive distribution and conversion solutions for over a dozen different broadcasts of one of the biggest sporting events of the year.

With the flexibility and power to accept all known HD and SD formats, ESU can output signals in 1080i, 720p, SD 4x3 and SD 16x9 (letterbox and anamorphic). The audio distribution and conversion infrastructure can handle analog, AES, Cobranet and MADI distribution, as well as conversion between these formats. Audio and video delays have been incorporated to insure lip sync integrity is maintained when signals are converted from the original format.

NEP Broadcasting Chief Technology Officer George Hoover says, "ESU takes the task of distributing multiple feeds to other broadcasters away from the production truck, freeing those engineers and technical resources to concentrate on the main event while insuring the other broadcasters get the appropriate attention for their productions."

ESU comes fully equipped with:

• A full RTS Advanced Digital Intercom with Trunk Master and RVON capabilities
• 2 wire PLs, IFBs and Telephone Couplers
• Gigabit Ethernet routing
• Switching and distribution supported for multiple WANs and LANs.
• A full Partner ACS Phone System that can handle overall compound telephone service in offices and edit suites.
• Fiber connectivity via TAC 12 and TAC 4 military connectors and discrete ST fiber connections

In addition ESU has two flexible work areas, or Sand Boxes, with full monitoring which can be used for web-casting, editing, super motion, commercial insertion, quality control or other applications.
