IT UNIX Systems Administrator (Pittsburgh, PA)

The purpose of this position is to grow and maintain our multiple location, computer network along with managing the server infrastructure that is currently running Unix and Unix based variants supporting 500+ users. Position Responsibilities: •Maintains a multi-server network in a mixed OS environment with minimal downtime across multiple locations. •Responsible for all systems administration duties including but not limited to architecture, maintenance, and support of primarily Unix based applications, database, file, web and email servers. •Conducts performance monitoring and provides appropriate system modifications to guarantee responsive system uptime and performance. Including system failure analysis and recovery; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems. •Tests and deploys relevant software updates at most current and stable releases including the ability to write scripts to automate administration tasks. •Coordinates the implementation of computer systems with company personnel and outside vendors. •Responsible for all upgrades and repairs to the LAN/WAN. •Provides 2nd tier technical support to employees and other IT staff members. •Manages and maintains daily backup of critical systems and monitors the performance and resources of the system network. Creates backup strategies to meet business data recovery needs and optimize system performance. •Develops policies and procedures to safeguard computer files against unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure. Including the use of virus protection software and other commercial software to maintain the network and system security. •Responsible for writing reports that document computer security, IT focused policies and procedures, and testing results. •Ability to work nights, weekends as required. •Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: •Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience. •At least 3 years experience with maintaining all aspects of a comparably sized network. •Experience with UNIX systems, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting. •Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, script writing and maintenance skills administrative familiarity with relevant technologies. •Strong aptitude in DNS, NFS, Samba, MySQL, Apache, SSH, SSL, PHP, Shell, Perl, Nagios, MRTG •LAN/WAN network experience utilizing Cisco and Cisco VPN technologies. •Must have an excellent grasp of Active Directory, NAS/SAN, Citrix/Terminal Services, Virualization, Microsoft Project/Visio, and Barracuda network appliances. •Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems and client/server environments. •Excellent communication and customer service skills along with well developed problem solving and analytical skills. Operations Coordinator (Pittsburgh, PA)

The purpose of this position is to coordinate the movement and logistics of specified mobile units with the technical staff to ensure that client needs and NEP business objectives are met. Position Responsibilities: • Coordinates scheduled/contracted client events for mobile television units for remote TV events • Arranges the staffing, enters appropriate scheduling information into scheduling software and coordinates all travel logistics for mobile unit staff for each event/project. • Prepares production book with all job related information on a per job basis and enters appropriate data into software program. • Acquires appropriate documentation for shows outside of the US (carnets, permits, passports, etc.). • Reviews event contracts for equipment needs and meets with equipment coordinator to arrange and fill client and mobile unit equipment requirements by determining what equipment is available through NEP shop inventory and what will need rented from an outside vendor. • Communicates schedules and job information to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. • Approves engineers’ and drivers’ expense reports. • Reviews, prepares, and completes billing invoices for each event in a timely manner. • Assists other operations coordinators with equipment, logistics, billing, etc. if shows are scheduled with other mobile units. • Collects and reviews tech reports from each show, tracks missing & damaged equipment, coordinates shipping and follows up with maintenance needs. • Attends regularly scheduled Operations and other related meetings. • Functions as a Project Coordinator on multi-truck/client events (i.e., X-Games, Superbowl, Masters, etc.) • Works closely with the Sales department to receive the sales contract, equipment needs and to reconcile any billing changes. • Travels as needed throughout the year to visit with the client and/or mobile unit staff to ensure client and employee satisfaction. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Technical or Bachelors degree in Communications, Business or related field desired, however a combination of education and experience will be considered. • 3+ years experience in logistics and project coordination required. • Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast management, technology, equipment, facilities, and production for major commercial and cable TV networks desirable. • Demonstrated skills in professional communication and an ability to interact with a wide range of individuals. • Attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Mobile Unit Engineer Apprentice (Pittsburgh PA)

The purpose of this position is to develop engineering and broadcast equipment maintenance skills through 3 phases, ultimately resulting in a mobile unit engineer position. Developmental Phases: PHASE I (approximately 6 months) Work with NEP Integration • Mobile Unit construction. • Cutting cables and terminating ends. • Lacing cables in mobile unit racks. • Testing cables. • Install and fax out equipment. • Learn truck schematics and create truck elevation drawings. • Participate in final mobile unit fax out before 1st event. PHASE II (approximately 6 months) Work with NEP Maintenance Department • Daily reporting to Chief Engineer (Jeff Joslin). • Equipment quality control and check out. • Check and repair auxiliary equipment as it passes through field shop (including intercom belt packs, monitors, microphones, speaker stations, etc.) • Work side by side with Chief Engineer and Maintenance Engineers on special projects, different pieces of equipment, and software upgrades. • Install and fax out broadcast gear in mobile units (including cameras and vtrs). • Work on mobile units as an extra engineer when opportunity arises. PHASE III (approximately 3 to 6 months) Work on a specified mobile unit as a 3rd Engineer • Set up mobile unit(s). • On site preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of television equipment and systems. • Work with NEP engineers, drivers and crew members. • Strike and tear down mobile unit(s). Evaluations: • Evaluation of the apprentice will be continuous throughout the 3 phases. Qualifications: • Outstanding performance in either a Broadcast Communications or Engineering School. • Electronics training preferred. • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs. • Ability to work on projects individually and in a team oriented environment. • Must be able to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines. • Travel will be required. Equipment Coordinator (Pittsburgh, PA)

The purpose of this position is to coordinate equipment needs and requests between clients and mobile unit staff in order to ensure that all necessary equipment is available for implementing the client’s production. Position Responsibilities: • Documents all equipment needs and activities in the NEP work order system (BEST). • Coordinates and oversees equipment needs of each mobile unit as they relate to client needs for NEP events. • Works with Field Shop Director, Engineers and other appropriate staff to ensure equipment is returned after the project is complete. • Maintains the accuracy of the float equipment in both the equipment database and scheduling system (ScheduAll). • Consults with in-house engineering support to resolve technical equipment issues for NEP events. • Assists with equipment needs of other divisions as needed. • Facilitates the efficient usage of NEP float equipment between all divisions of NEP using the scheduling system (ScheduAll). • Serves as the 1st call for NCP’s equipment needs. Determine most efficient and cost effect use for equipment. • Responsible for the NCP rentals and to maintain the accuracy of the float equipment in ScheduAll. • Generates work orders and fulfill rental needs for customers outside the scope of a “truck” rental. • Rents equipment for specific events as needed. • Coordinates the supply of equipment through the field shop or proper rental facility. • Coordinates shipping of equipment for all SS events with the Shipping/Receiving Coordinator. • Meets with Field Shop Technicians to determine equipment needs and create shipping orders. • Meets with Operations Coordinators to coordinate mobile unit equipment requirements and provide proper shipping and rental invoices for coordinator’s job file. • Creates appropriate carnet and customs documents for events outside the U.S. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Technical Degree or equivalent experience and training in the television broadcast industry. • Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast technology, equipment and production for major commercial and cable television networks. • 2+ years of broadcast television and logistics experience. • Must be able to read and interpret technical equipment specifications. • Must be organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills. • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.
